Want to offer pricing for wholesale on your WooCommerce site?

Wholesalers and other sales outlets can be an excellent platform for new brands to gain leverage. By targeting wholesale pricing opportunities, you’ll be able to expand your reach by targeting potential customers who would otherwise likely walk past your shop front or instead choose to buy from rivals who are already established in the marketplace. This helps you increase sales volume and in turn, it helps your business to grow organically!

In this article, we’ll show you how to easily set up WooCommerce wholesale pricing and discounts on your site to increase your sales and revenue.

Do You Need Wholesale Pricing?

Wholesale pricing is a much-needed option for B2B stores, bulk order takers, and those catering to dropshipping businesses.

By default, WooCommerce lets you easily set retail prices for your products and services, but if you want to inform visitors about bulk prices, you don’t have the option to do so.

This means wholesale customers need to reach out to you to negotiate bulk discounts. It may require a long process that will affect the user experience (UX) and reduce your chances of conversion.

Instead, visitors will know that volume discounts are available if you display the wholesale price with the product. This way, they can add larger volumes to their cart and checkout directly from the same page.

Let’s turn our attention to how you can set wholesale prices for your WooCommerce store.

Setting Wholesale Prices for WooCommerce

Previously, if you wanted to display wholesale prices on your site, you had to hire a developer or manually add a code snippet to your product pages.

But thankfully,   this is no longer the case thanks to the WooCommerce Wholesale Suite .

WooCommerce Wholesale Suite made it easy to add wholesale prices with the click of a button.

Some of the highlights of this plugin are:

  • wholesale registration and login
  • Global or category percentage discounts
  • Shipping, tax, and payment gateways for wholesale are handled separately
  • Product catalog customization to show products or variants as “wholesale only”
  • Minimum purchase rules for subtotal cost, number of products, or individual product minimums
  • Customizable forms and emails for wholesale customers
  • Searchable wholesale product catalog

They have a lite version available in the WordPress repository that you can use to view wholesale prices for free. However, you need to choose their premium plan to access all its great features that allow you to set up a fully functioning wholesale store   .

In this tutorial, we will use the WooCommerce Wholesale Package to show you how to set it up:

  • Wholesale prices and minimum quantity for individual products
  • Multi-level pricing based on purchase quantity
  • Global percent discounts on all products

Lets start.

1. Create Wholesale Pricing and Minimum Quantity for WooCommerce

The first thing you need to do to set up wholesale pricing is to install and activate the Wholesale Suite plugin.

Now open Settings » WWS License  page in your WordPress dashboard to enter your license key  . You can find the license key information in your account on the Wholesale Suite website:

Once you’ve done that, you need to edit any WooCommerce product or create a new one to add the wholesale prices. For this tutorial, we will create a new product by going to  Products » Add New  tab.

Next,  go to the Product Data  section in the product editor and you will see the wholesale pricing options. You can set the regular price and wholesale price for your product:

wholesale price and quantity

After that, you have the option to enter the minimum quantity that the customer must purchase to make the wholesale prices affordable. A wholesale customer cannot add less than this to their shopping cart.

After entering the minimum quantity number, you need to register or publish your product and then preview it to see your wholesale prices live on your site.

2. Create Multi-Level Pricing Based on Quantity

The world of wholesale is drastically different from the retail industry. In retail, you can offer one standard price for all customers. However, in wholesale, you may need to offer multi-level pricing options for different levels of quantity purchased.

For example, if the customer purchases up to 200 units, it may cost $4 per unit. But if they buy 200 or more units, it may only cost $3 per unit.

To get started, you need to add more than one wholesale role. To create these roles, go to  WooCommerce » Wholesale Roles  :

Here you can create new roles by entering a name, role key and a description to help you differentiate each role.

After adding the roles, go back to the WooCommerce product edit page.  Scroll down to Wholesale Prices Based on Item Quantity . You will see a checkbox that allows you to ‘Activate more wholesale pricing discounts based on quantity purchased’.

Check this box to get more options to show quantity based pricing:

Then choose the Wholesaler Role based on the roles you have created. For this example, we’ll set it to the  Wholesale Customer  role. Then enter a start and end amount and set the price amount.

Once finished,  save your  new wholesale price by clicking the Add Quantity Discount Rule button.

After you’re done setting the wholesale rules, save or publish your product to store your changes. Like this, you can add more rules depending on the size of your client’s order.

3. Create Global Percentage Discounts

By now, you’ve learned how to add wholesale prices to individual products. However, this can be a tedious process. There is an easier option that might interest you, and it offers a one percent discount on all items if purchased in wholesale quantities.

For example, anyone who buys over 50 units of any product on your site will get 5% off.

To do this, visit the  WooCommerce » Settings  page and  open the Wholesale Prices  tab. Once this tab is open, open the  Discount  tab and you will see the general discount options:

Under Wholesale Role,  select Wholesale Customer  , and then add a percentage discount value, such as 5% or 10%, to apply to all products. Once complete,  click the Add Match  button and the global discount will be applied to your site.

View Your Wholesale Product Prices

Now that you’ve enabled wholesale prices and discounts on your site, you can test it out to see how it looks. For this, we recommend that you create a test user account on your site.

At the  top of the Add New » Users  page in the WordPress dashboard:

Here you can create an account by entering a name and password. Next, select Wholesale Customer as the role   and add the new user account.

After doing that, log in to your website using your new user account. Visit the product page for which you apply the wholesale rules. You will see your product listed at the wholesale price alongside the regular pricing.

And that’s it! You have now added a wholesale price for your WooCommerces store. You can now offer different prices for your retail and wholesale customers.
